At Stendahls Bil, we understand the importance of a calm and welcoming environment for all our visitors, including highly sensitive individuals and families with special challenges. We strive to make your visit with us as predictable and comfortable as possible.


Our accessibility guide has been developed to increase safety for individuals with any form of disability or neurodevelopmental disorder (NDD). The guide is designed to help you or your loved ones plan your visit to us without unexpected obstacles or sensory challenges. Everything to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Practical Information

Below, we have listed some things that may be helpful to know about accessibility both outside and inside our facilities.

Parking

All of our facilities have good parking options near the entrances, with at least one parking space reserved for individuals with mobility impairments. You can also charge your car at a charging station during your visit. Parking is free, and no permit is required.

Accessibility

All of our premises are accessible for people with mobility impairments. The main level differences are found at our facilities in Lilla Edet, which are equipped with ramps, and in Älvängen, where we have an elevator up to our customer lounge.

Service Dogs

If you require a service dog for assistance or comfort, they are of course welcome at Stendahls Bil. However, we kindly ask that they always remain on a leash and not be inside the cars.

Lounge

All of our facilities have a lounge for visitors, featuring seating areas, a TV, coffee machine, and water. In some of our locations, we also have paper, pens, and toys available. Here, you can sit and relax while waiting for your car or a free salesperson.

Wifi and Connectivity

At our facilities, visitors can connect their mobile devices or tablets to our guest network without requiring a password.

Restrooms

All of our locations have customer restrooms, with at least one restroom adapted for wheelchair users.

Visual Support

To help you prepare for your visit, we offer visual support in PDF format that you can download and print. The materials include planning forms, communication boards, and information about our showroom and workshop, as well as what you can experience with us. Feel free to use the materials in whatever way works best for you.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM US?

We want you to feel informed and prepared for your visit. Our facilities are designed with calm and tranquility in mind, but of course, there are sensory elements that may be uncomfortable for some. We’ve gathered answers to frequently asked questions to provide you with the information you need.

We do not use any fragrance, so the environment is generally neutral. However, there may be scents that you may not encounter often due to the fact that we store cars indoors. 

You can expect the following scents: 

  • Tires / Rubber 
  • New car 
  • Coffee 
  • Cleaning products 

We strive to keep the noise level low for everyone’s comfort, but the large spaces and hard surfaces can cause sound to echo. In our workshops, it’s a bit louder due to the use of many tools. We play background music, which we can turn off upon request, and if you’d like to wear hearing protection during your visit, that is of course no problem. 

You can expect the following sounds: 

  • Music 
  • Footsteps and shoes on tile 
  • Echo 
  • Coffee machine grinding beans 
  • Motorized garage doors opening and closing 
  • People talking 
  • Car doors opening and closing 
  • Cars starting and engine noise 
  • Machines and tools

Temperature 
We strive to maintain a consistent and comfortable temperature, but depending on the season, it may vary as we also open large doors when cars are driven in and out. 

Lighting 
We have plenty of lighting and large windows that let in a lot of natural light. The premises feature many digital screens with moving content, and on certain days, cars are photographed indoors, which may cause temporary flashes of light. 

You can expect these materials: 

  • Tiles, wooden floors, and carpets 
  • Wooden, plastic, and fabric chairs 
  • Wooden tables 
  • Metal and glass 

Our facilities vary in size, layout, and design. Since we sell cars, the setup can change quite a lot from day to day when we move cars around in the showroom. No, not on our premises, but there are playgrounds within walking distance of almost all of our locations: 

Lilla Edet – Pilbågsgatan 7B 
Between our facilities on Brovägen and Göteborgsvägen, you’ll find this playground, about a 250-meter walk from our premises. 

Stenungsund – Munkrödsvägen 
Between Friskis & Svettis and Hotel Munkeröd, there is a playground with an outdoor gym. About 200 meters from our location. 

Stenungsund – Doterödsvägen 
At Mariagården, there are great opportunities to run around on grass lawns, an obstacle course, and walking paths. (About 250 meters)

Car Sales 
In the showroom, you are free to move around, look, touch, and sit in the cars. You are welcome to use our customer lounge and other facilities. The sales offices are located within the showroom among the cars. We kindly ask that visitors do not enter the administration office areas behind the doors. 

Workshop
You are welcome to enter the workshop when dropping off or picking up your car, but for safety reasons, we ask that you do not stay inside while work is being carried out. During this time, you can visit the store or use our customer lounge and other facilities. 

Detailing, Painting, and Collision Repair
For safety reasons, we cannot allow visitors in these areas, but you are welcome to look through the window or door if you’re curious.

We always offer coffee and water to our visitors, and we often have some cake, pastry, or fruit available, although this varies depending on the season and day of the week. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own food or drinks if you’d like to have something while waiting or if you need it. 

Of course! We offer several adjustments to make your visit as comfortable as possible. 

Here are some examples: 

  • The option to book appointments with our salespeople before we open to other visitors. 
  • Turning off the music in the premises. 
  • Loan office during workshop visits. 
  • Meeting with a salesperson in a conference room for those who need a more private environment.

Whether it’s adjusting the background music, booking a private meeting, or anything else, we are here to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Each of our locations has different conditions, so reach out, and we will find a good solution together.

Älvängen

The car should be a safe place, and change can be difficult for anyone, especially for people with, for example, autism. Here are some tips on how you can prepare for a car switch.

Consider your choice: Getting a new car is, for most people, an exciting experience, but for many, the new can be intimidating and overwhelming. Therefore, it’s worth considering whether everything needs to be new, or if you can make choices that create more comfort. Choosing the same color, brand, or even model with a newer year could be an option to minimize the change. 

Preparation with pictures: 
All our used cars are well documented with photos from many angles, both interior and exterior. You can save these images and look at them before picking up the car. If it’s a new car, you can use the ”Build My Car” tool on our website. 

Come and test drive: 
We offer test drives to all our customers, and sometimes more than one may be needed to feel comfortable. 

 

Break up the delivery:
There’s a lot to go through during a delivery: paperwork to sign, the car’s features to review, apps to download, and phones to connect. You may also need to leave your old car with us. If everything feels overwhelming all at once, we can break up the delivery so that not everything has to happen on the same day.
