Welcome to our
Accessibility and Neurodiversity Guide
For Memorable and Pleasant Visits

At Stendahls Bil, we understand the importance of a calm and welcoming environment for all our visitors, including highly sensitive individuals and families with unique challenges. We strive to make your visit with us as predictable and comfortable as possible.

Our accessibility guide has been created to enhance security for individuals with any form of disabilities or neurodiversity disorders. The guide is intended to help you or your family member plan your visit to us without unexpected obstacles or sensory challenges. All of this is to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Practical Information

Below, we have listed some details that may be helpful to know about accessibility both outside and inside our facilities.

Parking

All our facilities offer ample parking options close to our entrances, and there is always at least one parking space reserved for those with mobility impairments. You can also charge your car at a charging station during your visit. Parking is free, and no permit is required.

Accessibility

All our premises are adapted for accessibility to individuals with mobility impairments. Level changes are primarily at our Lilla Edet location, which is equipped with ramps, while our Älvängen location has an elevator leading to our customer lounge.

All our facilities have a lounge for visitors with seating, a TV, a coffee machine, and water. In some of our locations, we also provide paper, pens, and toys. Here, visitors can sit while waiting for their car or a sales representative.

Wi-Fi and Connectivity

Visitors can connect their mobile or tablet to our guest network without needing a password.

Restrooms

All our locations have restrooms for customers, with at least one wheelchair-accessible restroom available.

Visual Support & Communication Boards

To help you prepare for your visit with us, we offer visual aids in PDF format that you can download and print. The material includes planning forms, communication boards, and information about our showroom and workshop, as well as what you can experience with us. Feel free to use the material in whatever way suits you best.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM US?

We want you to feel informed and prepared for your visit. Our facilities are designed with a focus on calm and tranquility; however, there are naturally some sensory elements that may feel uncomfortable for some. We have gathered answers to common questions to provide you with the information you need.

We do not use any added fragrances, so the base scent is neutral. However, there may be some scents you might not encounter frequently due to our indoor car storage.

You can expect these scents:

  • Tires/Rubber
  • New Car
  • Coffee
  • Cleaning Products

We try to keep noise levels down for everyone’s comfort, but our facilities are large with hard surfaces where sound can echo. In our workshops, it’s a bit louder due to the tools we use. We play background music, which we can turn off upon request, and if you’d like hearing protection during your visit, we’re happy to provide it.

You can expect these sounds:

  • Music
  • Footsteps and shoes on tile
  • Echoes
  • Coffee machine grinding beans
  • Motorized garage doors opening and closing
  • People talking
  • Car doors opening and closing
  • Cars starting and engine sounds
  • Machines and tools

Temperature – We aim to maintain a consistent and comfortable temperature, but it may vary slightly with the seasons as large doors open when cars are moved in and out.
Lighting – We have ample lighting and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. There are many digital screens with moving visuals, and on certain days, cars are photographed indoors, which may result in occasional flashes of light.

You can expect these materials:

  • Tile, wood flooring, and carpets
  • Chairs made of wood, plastic, and fabric
  • Wooden tables
  • Metal and glass

Our facilities vary in size, layout, and design. Since we sell cars, the showroom can look quite different from one day to another as we rotate cars in the display area. To get an idea of what it looks like, we recommend checking out our neurodiversity-friendly guides further down this page or visiting our digital locations on Google Maps, where photos from us and our customers are regularly uploaded.

No, we don’t have one on-site, but there are playgrounds within walking distance of almost all our locations:

  • Lilla Edet – Pilbågsgatan 7B
This playground is located between our facilities on Brovägen and Göteborgsvägen, approximately a 250-meter walk from our premises.
  • Stenungsund Munkrödsvägen
A playground with an outdoor gym is situated between Friskis & Svettis and Hotell Munkeröd, about 200 meters from our facility.
  • Stenungsund Doterödsvägen
At Mariagården, there are large grassy areas, an obstacle course, and walking trails—around 250 meters away.

Car Sales
In the showrooms, you are free to walk around, look, touch, and sit in the cars. You are also welcome to use our customer lounge and other amenities. Sales offices are located within the showroom among the cars. We kindly ask that visitors do not enter the administration offices behind closed doors.

Workshop
You are welcome to enter the workshop when dropping off or picking up your car, but for safety reasons, we request that you do not remain inside while work is being done. During this time, you are welcome to visit the store or use our customer lounge and other facilities.

Detailing, Paint, and Body Repair Workshops
For safety reasons, we cannot have visitors in these areas, but you are welcome to look through the window or door if you’re curious.

We always offer coffee and water to our visitors, and we often have some cookies, pastries, or fruit available, though this varies by season and day of the week. You are, of course, welcome to bring your own food or drink if you’d like something while you wait or need it during your visit.

Absolutely! We offer several adaptations to make your visit as comfortable as possible.

Here are some examples:

  • Option to book appointments with our sales team before we open to other visitors.
  • Ability to turn off music in the facility.
  • Private office available for use during workshop visits.
  • Meetings with sales staff in a conference room for those needing a more enclosed environment.

Contact and Special Requests
You are very welcome to contact us with any requests or questions before your visit. Whether it’s adjusting the background music, scheduling a private meeting, or something else, we are here to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Each facility has different possibilities, so please reach out, and we’ll find a great solution together.

If you would like to see a picture of the person you have an appointment with or the people you may encounter during your visit, you can check our contact pages. We continually update with photos of all of us who work here.

A car should be a safe space, and change can be challenging for anyone, especially for individuals with, for example, autism. Here are some tips on how to prepare for a car change.

Consider Your Choice:
Getting a new car is an enjoyable experience for most, but for many, the newness can feel intimidating and difficult. It might be worth considering if everything needs to be new, or if you can make choices that create a sense of comfort. Choosing the same color, brand, or even model in a newer year could be an option to minimize the change.

Preparation with Photos:
All our used cars are well-documented with photos from many angles, both inside and out. You can save these and look at them before picking up the car. For a new car, you can use the ”Build My Car” tools available on the website.

Come for a Test Drive:
We offer test drives to all our customers, and sometimes it may take more than one to feel comfortable.

Split the Delivery Process:
There are many steps involved in a delivery—paperwork to sign, an overview of the car’s features, app downloads, phone connections, and possibly leaving your old car with us. If it feels overwhelming to do everything at once, we can split the delivery so not everything has to happen on the same day.
